Close, natural, sustainable: EAM is the regional energy partner for around 1,4 million people in large parts of Hesse, southern Lower Saxony and parts of North Rhine-Westphalia, Thuringia and Rhineland-Palatinate. As a 100 percent municipal company, EAM ensures a secure energy supply, develops future solutions for its customers and works in partnership to shape the energy transition in the region.
Through its sales company, EAM offers its private customers attractive green electricity and natural gas products. Customers can also be supplied with heating electricity. All electricity products for private customers come from 100 percent renewable sources. EAM also supplies numerous municipalities and commercial customers with electricity, natural gas and heat.
Strong network
EAM Netz GmbH is responsible for the company's network business. The wholly owned EAM subsidiary operates a total of around 100 kilometers of electricity and natural gas networks. The supply facilities include 50.000 substations, more than 71 switching and local network stations as well as 6.300 natural gas transfer stations and around 73 gas district control systems. More than 280 urban and rural communities are directly or indirectly integrated into the supply networks.
The company uses the latest intelligent grid technology to integrate the constantly growing feed-in power from decentralized power generation systems from renewable energies. Around 53.500 of these systems are connected to the grid. EAM Netz also provides a wide range of energy-related services, for example in the area of street lighting or the planning and operation of supply networks as well as water supply and wastewater disposal.
Driver of the energy transition
With innovative concepts, EAM is driving the energy transition in the region and, together with its subsidiaries, actively supports municipalities and districts in the implementation of energy projects. This includes, for example, the construction and operation of ultra-modern biogas plants and networks for heating and cooling. EAM also operates its own water and wind power plants and supports districts, cities and municipalities as well as committed citizens in the planning and implementation of wind energy and photovoltaic projects. EAM also offers tailor-made energy-efficient solutions, for example in the area of combined heat and power, and is building charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in the region.
